In the hills of Wakayama, a few ageing 'tsuriami' machines still turn one metre per hour, gravity pulling cotton yarn through 1000 hand-set needles. From these cylindrical knitting machines our loop-wheel program takes shape.

Further west, in Fukuyama & Okayama prefecture's our denim is woven slowly on narrow selvedge looms with a rope-dyed indigo depth earned through repetition.
